Hydro-electric power station
The plant
This plant in Heudreville-sur-Eure is a unique project in France. It is located in the park of the castle of the family of Orglandes, crossed by the river of Eure.
• Technology used: It uses two screws from Archimedes 4 meters in diameter and 6.5 meters in length, which are inclined to 22° on a "toboggan". These screws replace part of the dam and provide 220 kW at optimal conditions (flow of 15 m3/s, with a drop height of 2 meters and a yield of 70%)
• Safety: It enhances the safety of residents in the event of flooding through level management.
• Mixed Pass: Enjoyed by canoe lovers.
• Electricity generation: Its production corresponds to the electricity consumption of about 400 homes.
• Potential: Thousands of similar small dams could be equipped with hydrodynamic screws to produce electricity, for a natural energy transition.
Local impact : The hydroelectric power plant at Heudreville-sur-Eure contributes to renewable electricity generation in the region. It is part of a sustainable development and local resource development approach. The presence of this plant also reinforces the tourist attraction of the village, which is already known for its historical heritage and natural landscapes
